'Maleficent' clip finds Princess Aurora pricking her finger on a spindle

LOS ANGELES, May 13 (UPI) -- A new clip from Disney's upcoming Sleeping Beauty prequel Maleficent finds Elle Fanning as Princess Aurora walking in to the spindle that will make her "fall into a sleep like death."

Maleficent stars Angelina Jolie as the title character and tells the story of a "vindictive fairy [who] is driven to curse an infant princess only to realize the child may be the only one who can restore peace". The film will focus on the villain's back story.

The latest clip from the adventure thriller finds Aurora walking to her eternal sleep right before the end of her 16 birthday, as predicted by the curse cast by the Mistress of All Evil on her baptism. You can check out the video here.

Maleficent hits theaters Friday, May 30.
