LOS ANGELES, April 24 (UPI) -- Scarlett Johansson and Lupita Nyong’o are in negotiations to partake in Disney's upcoming adaptation of The Jungle Book.
If their deals go through, the actresses would be joining Idris Elba in the Jon Favreau-directed live-action/CGI hybrid film.
Nyong’o has been reportedly offered the part of Rakcha, the mother wolf who adopts Mowgli, while Johansson would play Kaa, a python who uses its serpentine hypnosis to get what it wants and one of the main villains of the story.
There is no word whether the parts of Mowgli and Baloo have been cast.
Disney's new version of The Jungle Book is scheduled to be released on October 9, 2015. Another version of the film, which will be developed by Warner Bros and directed by Andy Serkis, is also underway.
Johansson is currently shooting the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron and Nyong’o was recently named Lancome's first black spokeswoman.
