Ryan Gosling will make his directorial debut at Cannes Film Festival

The 33-year-old actor has written, produced and directed a fantasy neo-noir film, "Lost River."

LOS ANGELES, April 17 (UPI) -- Ryan Gosling will make his directorial debut at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.

The 33-year-old actor has written, produced and directed a fantasy neo-noir film, Lost River. The movie's original title was How to Catch a Monster, but will debut as Lost River in the Un Certain Regard category at the festival.

Christina Hendricks stars as a single mother named Billy who begins to slip into a dark lifestyle. Meanwhile, her imaginative teenage son, Bones (Iain De Caestecker), discovers a road to a secret underwater town. Eva Mendes and Saoirse Ronan also appear as Cat and Rat, respectively.

Filming took place in Detroit, Mich., and a U.S. release date has not yet been set.
