'Movie 43,' 'After Earth' earn three Razzie Awards apiece

LOS ANGELES, March 2 (UPI) -- The critically panned, box-office duds "Movie 43" and "After Earth" each earned three Golden Raspberry Awards in Los Angeles Saturday night.

The Razzies recognize the previous year's worst in film. They are presented on the eve of the Oscars, which honor the best in cinema.

Featuring appearances by Halle Berry, Richard Gere, Hugh Jackman and Kate Winslet, the comedy "Movie 43" was declared Worst Picture. It also scooped up the Razzies for Worst Director and Screenplay.

The movie had 12 credited directors, including Elizabeth Banks, Peter Farrelly and Brett Rattner, and more than a dozen credited writers.

Father and son co-stars Will and Jaden Smith were named Worst Supporting Actor and Worst Actor, as well as Worst Screen Combo, for their science-fiction picture "After Earth."

Tyler Perry was declared Worst Actress for his cross-dressing role in "A Madea Christmas," while Kim Kardashian, the leading lady of "Tyler Perry's Temptation," earned the Worst Supporting Actress mention.

"The Lone Ranger" won the Razzie for Worst Remake.

Adam Sandler and Chris Rock's "Grown Ups 2" was nominated for a leading eight Razzie Awards, including Worst Picture, but was shut out at the ceremony.
