Michael Jackson's family wants help completing documentary

NEW YORK, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- U.S. pop star Michael Jackson's mother and children are asking for the public's help to fund a documentary about the late singer.

Jackson's mother, Katherine Jackson, posted the project on fundanything.com, asking his fans to help the family raise $3.2 million to complete the nearly finished documentary, "Remembering Michael," People magazine reported Friday.

The film is a "tribute documentary film project that Michael's children Paris, Prince, Blanket and I have been working on for years," Katherine Jackson wrote. "Our goal with this film is to share a positive, loving and respectful tribute to Michael, who spent his entire life sharing his gifts with the great hope of making the world a better place."

A family friend told People they're not asking for help because they need the money financially, but because they want Michael Jackson's fans to feel like they have had a hand in creating the documentary.

"[They want] to make it exciting for Michael's fans and to allow them to participate in the project," the source said.
