'The Rock' is top-grossing star of 2013 with films earning $1.3B

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- Hollywood film star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is the top-grossing actor of 2013, with movies that have earned a total of $1.3 billion, Forbes magazine reported.

Johnson starred in the blockbusters "The Fast & the Furious 6," "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" and "Pain & Gain."

Coming in at No. 2 is Robert Downey, Jr. whose single 2013 movie, "Iron Man 3," earned $1.2 billion at the global box office, followed by Steve Carell's films with $919 million for third place, Vin Diesel's films with $887 million for fourth place and Sandra Bullock's films with $862 million for fifth place.

Rounding out the top tier are the late Paul Walker at No. 6 with $789 million, Billy Crystal and John Goodman tied at No. 7 with $743 million, Chris Hemsworth at No. 8 with $701 million and Jennifer Lawrence at No. 9 with $700 million.

Johnson, Diesel and Walker all starred in "Fast and the Furious 6," which earned $789 million at the global box office this year.

Crystal and Goodman co-starred in the animated blockbuster "Monsters University."
