Dustin Hoffman successfully treated for cancer

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Dustin Hoffman's publicist Jodi Gottlieb says the U.S. actor has been successfully treated for cancer.

"It was detected early and he has been surgically cured," Gottlieb told People.com Tuesday. "Dustin is feeling great and is in good health."

The 75-year-old, double Oscar-winner is to undergo preventative treatments to minimize the chance of a recurrence of the disease, Gottlieb said, declining to disclose any further details about Hoffman's illness or treatment.
