Pierce Brosnan's daughter Charlotte dead at 41

LOS ANGELES, July 1 (UPI) -- Irish-born actor Pierce Brosnan told People.com his 41-year-old daughter Charlotte has died of ovarian cancer.

Cassandra Harris, Charlotte's mother and Brosnan's first wife, died of the disease in 1991 at age 43.

"On June 28 at 2 p.m. my darling daughter Charlotte Emily passed on to eternal life, having succumbed to ovarian cancer," Brosnan told the magazine in a statement. "She was surrounded by her husband Alex, her children Isabella and Lucas, and her brothers Christopher and Sean.

"Charlotte fought her cancer with grace and humanity, courage and dignity. Our hearts are heavy with the loss of our beautiful dear girl. We pray for her and that the cure for this wretched disease will be close at hand soon," the actor said. "We thank everyone for their heartfelt condolences."

Brosnan, 60, is best known for work on the TV series "Remington Steele" and for his portrayal of secret agent James Bond in the films "GoldenEye," "Tomorrow Never Dies," "The World is Not Enough" and "Die Another Day."

His other screen credits include "The Thomas Crown Affair," "Mrs. Doubtfire," "The Mirror Has Two Faces," "The Matador," "Mamma Mia!" and "The Ghost Writer."
