Amanda Bynes says she's suing the NYPD over 'mistaken arrest'

NEW YORK, May 28 (UPI) -- Troubled actress Amanda Bynes announced via Twitter she plans to sue the New York Police Department regarding what she calls her "mistaken arrest" last week.

Bynes, 27, is the former star of TV's "The Amanda Show" and "What I Like About You" and the films "What a Girl Wants" and "Hairspray." Her once-bright career has been eclipsed in recent months by reports of erratic behavior, bizarre online rants and motor vehicle offenses.

She was arrested last week in Manhattan for allegedly throwing a bong out of her 36th-floor apartment window while police were in her home investigating a complaint that she was smoking marijuana in the building lobby. She was charged with tampering with evidence, reckless endangerment and marijuana possession.

Bynes accused one of the police officers of sexual harassment, saying on Twitter he "slapped my vagina." The matter is under investigation.

"For once and for all, this is the last thing I'll say about the mistaken arrest," the actress tweeted Monday.

"I'm suing NYPD for illegally entering my apartment, lying about drugs on me and lying about me tampering with non existent drug paraphernalia, then I'm suing for being put into a mental hospital against my will, then locked up overnight for coming home after a facial and working out with my trainer like the good girl that I am," she wrote.
