CANNES, France, May 19 (UPI) -- Chinese actress Fan Bingbing received the first International Artist of the Year Award from The Hollywood Reporter at a gala reception in Cannes, France.

Fan was honored Saturday as a rising star of film and fashion by a high-powered crowd of film movers and shakers at a rooftop reception that was quickly moved indoors when rain once again drenched the fabled French city, the Reporter said.

Fan brought a growing list of credits that include upcoming Hollywood roles in the new "X-Men" movie and Jackie Chan's "Skiptrace."

Fan has also become popular among the haute couture crowd.

The Reporter said she appeared Saturday in a "stunning Valentino gown" at the reception, which was co-hosted by footwear icon Jimmy Choo.

"I feel like Cinderella tonight," Fan said. "But even though I love fashion, the most important thing to me is my acting career."
