LOS ANGELES, April 6 (UPI) -- Actress Lindsay Lohan helped plan an intervention for a friend but he was arrested for drugs in Florida before it could take place, TMZ.com reported Saturday.

Citing sources it did not name, the celebrity website identified the friend as New York hotelier Vikram Chatwal. TMZ.com said Chatwal's lifestyle had become a matter of concern to Lohan, whose Hollywood career has been largely derailed by drug use and erratic behavior.

TMZ reported its sources said Lohan and some of Chatwal's other friends and family members planned to surprise Chatwal at a popular West Hollywood, Calif., hotel, and try to get him to clean up his act. The intervention, however, failed to take place and Chatwal was later arrested at the airport in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for possession of heroin, cocaine and other drugs.

Chatwal is the owner of the Dream Hotel in Manhattan and has reportedly allowed Lohan to stay there free of charge during her visits to New York, TMZ said.
