Disney donates $2 million for Sandy aid

NEW YORK, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- Walt Disney Co., based in Burbank, Calif., said Thursday it is donating $2 million to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy.

The entertainment giant said $1 million will go to the American Red Cross and $1 million to organizations working on rebuilding efforts.

"It's hard to fathom the devastation from this storm," Robert A. Iger, Disney chairman and chief executive officer, said in a statement. "Thousands of people in the hurricane's path lost everything and face the daunting challenge of putting their lives and communities back together. We hope this helps provide immediate aid needed to get through this disaster and begin the road to recovery."
