'Taken 2' tops U.S. box office

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Liam Neeson's latest thriller "Taken 2" topped the U.S. weekend box office with $50 million, Rentrak reported.

Coming in at No. 2 was "Hotel Transylvania" with $26.3 million, followed by "Pitch Perfect" at No. 3 with $14.7 million, "Looper" at No. 4 with $12.2 million and "Frankenweenie" at No. 5 with $11.5 million.

Rounding out the top tier are "End of Watch" at No. 6 with $4 million, "Trouble with the Curve" at No. 7 with $3.9 million, "House at the End of the Street" at No. 8 with $3.7 million, "The Master" at No. 9 with $1.8 million and "Finding Nemo" at No. 10 with $1.6 million.
