'Brave' wins box office bragging rights

LOS ANGELES, June 24 (UPI) -- Animation led the U.S. box office during the weekend, with "Brave" capturing the No. 1 spot with $66.73 million in receipts.

"Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted" was No. 2 with $20.2 million after spending a couple of weekends as No. 1.

All studio estimates of gross U.S. box office receipts are via Box Office Mojo.

"Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" was third with $16.5 million; "Prometheus" fourth with $10 million; "Rock of Ages" fifth with $8 million; "Snow White and the Huntsman" sixth with $8 million; "That's My Boy" seventh with $7.9 million; "Marvel's The Avengers" eighth with $7.04 million; and "MIB 3" ninth with $5.6 million.

"Seeking a Friend for the End of the World" was 10th with $3.83 million.
