'Snow White' reigns over U.S. box office

LOS ANGELES, June 3 (UPI) -- "Snow White and the Huntsman," starring Charlize Theron among others, took the No. 1 spot at the U.S. box office this weekend with $56.25 million.

The dark fantasy pushed "Men in Black 3," starring Will Smith, with $29.3 million into second place.

All studio estimates of gross box office receipts are via Box Office Mojo.

"Marvel's The Avengers" was third with $20.27 million; "Battleship" fourth with $4.81 million; "The Dictator" fifth with $4.72 million; "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" sixth for $4.6 million; "What to Expect When You're Expecting" seventh with $4.43 million; "Dark Shadows" eighth with $3.86 million; and "Chernobyl Diaries" ninth with $3.04 million.

"For Greater Glory" rounded out the top 10 with $1.8 million.
