'Bully' to be screened for DC teachers

WASHINGTON, March 10 (UPI) -- The movie industry says it will screen the documentary "Bully" for a group of educators in Washington amid a standoff with the distributors over its R rating.

The Motion Picture Association of America said the screening would include a panel discussion with Chairman Chris Dodd and Harvey Weinstein, head of the Weinstein Co.

Weinstein and the MPAA have been at odds over the R rating the MPAA gave to "Bully," the Wall Street Journal said. The MPAA said profane language in the film earned it an R, however, Weinstein Co. said the rating prevents younger kids, who are more likely than older teens to be the target of classroom bullying, from seeing the picture.

The MPAA has thus far stuck to its original ruling but has stated it would reconsider the rating if the studio wanted to submit a new cut of the film for its consideration, the Journal said.
