"You're only two years older than me, darling. Where have you been all my life?" Plummer said, addressing his Oscar statuette on stage at the Los Angeles ceremony. "I have a confession to make. When I first emerged from my mother's womb, I was already rehearsing my Academy Award thank-you speech, but it was so long ago, mercifully, for you, I've forgotten it."

Plummer's other film credits include "The Sound of Music," "The Insider," "The Last Station" and "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo."
