Francos' dad Doug dies at 63

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- Doug Franco, the businessman father of Hollywood actors James and Dave Franco, has died at the age of 63, the family said.

E! News reported Tuesday the cause, time and place of his death were not immediately disclosed.

"It is true that my sweet, generous husband passed away. He gave so much to his three sons and me, and to many other people, too," Doug's wife, writer and actress Betsy Franco, said via Twitter.

Proud parents Doug and Betsy attended this year's Oscars ceremony to cheer on James, who was the event's host, as well as a nominee for his acting work in "127 Hours."

In addition to Betsy, James and Dave, Doug is also survived by his artist son, Tom, E! said.
