His film credits included "Lonely Hearts," "Dragonfly" and "Amelia."

Leeward apparently lost control of his World War II-era Mustang fighter and crashed near the grandstands at the National Championship Air Races in Reno. He and two other people were killed and scores were injured.

The Reporters said Saturday Leeward's family posted a message on his Facebook page asking readers to "join us in praying at this time for all the families affected."
