Redmond O'Neal faces new drug charge

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Aug. 2 (UPI) -- Redmond O'Neal, son of actor Ryan O'Neal and the late actress Farrah Fawcett, has been arrested in California for alleged drug possession, police said.

O'Neal, 26, has spent time in and out of jail and rehab for drug-related offenses in recent years. He is on felony probation and could be sent back to prison if convicted of this latest charge, which occurred after a traffic stop in Santa Monica.

"After Mr. O'Neal admitted to being on felony probation and consented to a search, the officers found heroin and marijuana in the vehicle," Sgt. Richard Lewis told People.com Tuesday.

O'Neal is being held without bail. He is due in court Thursday, People.com said.
