Comic-Con briefed on new 'Snow White' film

SAN DIEGO, July 24 (UPI) -- Director Rupert Sanders told San Diego's Comic-Con that his upcoming "Snow White and the Huntsman" will have a better-developed evil queen and eight dwarfs.

Sanders and the high-powered cast led by Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron Saturday briefed the crowd at the annual science-fiction convention on the remake of the Disney children's classic, which begins shooting next week and will be released in June.

The San Diego Union-Tribune said Sunday that despite its pedigree, "Snow White and the Huntsman" isn't kid stuff.

"I'm pretty much preparing to play a serial killer," joked Theron, who plays the evil queen. "Watch out Kristen."

Sanders plans to flesh out Theron's role in order to give the audience an idea of what drives the queen's desire to kill Snow White.

"This isn't going to be where the queen just shows up and is evil," Theron said. "You'll see circumstances that led to her actions. Trust me, she's dark."

Sanders told the audience there will be other differences, including a suit of armor for Snow White and eight dwarfs, which he said was the result of copyright requirements.
