'Crocodile Dundee's' Ngoombujarra dies

FREMANTLE, Australia, July 20 (UPI) -- Aborigine actor David Ngoombujarra, known for his work in "Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles" and "Australia," has been found dead in a park, officials said.

Australia's Herald Sun newspaper said Wednesday the 44-year-old star of "Rabbit Proof Fence," "Blackfellas," "Kangaroo Jack," "Black and White," "Young Einstein" and "Ned Kelly" was found Sunday in an Australian park in Fremantle, near Perth, and declared dead at a hospital.

Details about the circumstances of his death were not immediately reported.

The Herald Sun said investigators are not categorizing it as suspicious and are awaiting the results of toxicology reports before determining the cause.

Hugh Jackman, Ngoombujarra's co-star in "Australia,"

honored him via Twitter.

"An extraordinary man, actor and friend. His laugh, warmth and humanity will live on with all who knew him," Jackman said on his Twitter feed.

Born in Meekatharra, among the West Australian midwest's Yamatji, he was raised by a white family in Perth, the Herald Sun noted.
