'Dabangg' big winner at IIFA Awards

TORONTO, June 26 (UPI) -- The Bollywood hit "Dabangg" won 10 awards, including best film, at the 12th International Indian Film Academy Awards in Toronto.

An audience of 22,000 attended the ceremony Saturday night at the Rogers Center. The IIFA Awards are presented in a different country every year, and this was the first ceremony in North America.

Shah Rukh Khan won best male actor for "My Name Is Khan" and Anushka Sharma was honored as best female actor for "Band Baaja Baaraat." Karan Johar won best director for "My Name Is Khan."

"Dabangg" also won for screenplay, choreography, best actor making a debut, best actor in a villainous role and several music awards.

The ceremony started 90 minutes late after a long parade of Bollywood stars entered the auditorium. Those in attendance included Kangana Ranaut, Bobby Deol, Shilpa Shetty, Priyanka Chopra and Bipasha Basu,

Oscar-winners Cuba Gooding Jr. and Hilary Swank were also in attendance.

During the ceremony, a member of the audience rushed the stage and grabbed Shah Rukh Kahn's leg. He refused to let go until security guards loosened his grip and escorted him out.
