BELFAST, Northern Ireland, May 5 (UPI) -- Actor Henry Cavill is to marry Ellen Whitaker, who is training to be part of the British show jumping team for the 2012 Olympics, the Belfast Telegraph said.
Best known for his work in the drama series "The Tudors," Cavill will next be seen playing Superman/Clark Kent in the movie "Man of Steel."

He proposed to Whitaker during a recent trip to Los Angeles, the Telegraph reported Wednesday.
"I couldn't believe it when he asked me to marry him," Whitaker told the newspaper. "I thought we were there to celebrate his birthday. It was such a surprise and I am so happy."
