'She Monkeys' wins top Tribeca honor

NEW YORK, April 29 (UPI) -- "She Monkeys" has won the Founders Award for Best Narrative Feature at New York's Tribeca Film Festival.

The movie was directed by Lisa Aschan, and written by Aschan and Josefine Adolfsson.

Shami Bizimana won the prize for Best Actor in a Narrative Feature Film in the festival's juried world competition for his work in "Grey Matter," which also was recognized with a Special Jury Mention.

Carice van Houten picked up the Best Actress trophy Thursday for her performance in "Black Butterflies"; "Artificial Paradises" won the Best Cinematography award; and "Turn Me On, Goddammit" earned the Best Screenplay honor.

Park Jungbum, writer and director of "Journals of Musan," won the title of Best New Narrative Director.

"Bombay Beach" was declared the Best Documentary Feature, and Michael Collins, director of the documentary "Give Up Tomorrow," was honored with a Special Jury Mention. Pablo Croce won the award for Best New Documentary Director for "Like Water."

"It's wonderful to have reached our 10th edition and to be able to celebrate with all of these gifted filmmakers. We've been fortunate that as we have grown we have remained a place that welcomes a diverse range of stories told by compelling and exciting filmmakers," co-founder Jane Rosenthal said in a statement. "We are truly honored that the community has supported the festival all these years -- the community of New York and the international film community."

Screenings of all winning films are to take place through Sunday, the final day of the festival, at various venues.
