Actor Michael Sarrazin dead at 70

MONTREAL, April 20 (UPI) -- Canadian actor Michael Sarrazin has died of cancer in Montreal, his agent said. He was 70.

Sarrazin's longtime agent, Michael Oscars, told The Montreal Gazette the actor was surrounded by his loved ones when he died Sunday.

"Michael was an actor of great sensitivity and unparalleled grace. He was also an impeccable raconteur, valued client and a great friend. It is a very great loss," Oscars said in a statement issued to the Gazette.

The star's film credits include "Journey to Shiloh," "Gunfight in Abilene," "The Flim-Flam Man," "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?," "The Sweet Ride," "Sometimes a Great Notion," "The Pursuit of Happiness" and "The Gumball Rally."

A frequent television guest star, Sarrazin's last role was in the 2008 TV movie, "The Christmas Choir," the Los Angeles Times said.

The actor is survived by his daughters, Michelle and Catherine, and his brother, Pierre, a producer, the Times said.

A funeral service is to be held April 26 in Lady Chapel of St. Patrick's Basilica in Montreal, the Gazette said.
