Gay rights group hands out media awards

NEW YORK, March 20 (UPI) -- Latin singer Ricky Martin and the Home Box Office vampire series "True Blood" were winners at the GLAAD Media Award ceremony in New York, organizers announced.

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation ceremony gave its Vito Russo Award to Ricky Martin and named "True Blood" the winner in the Outstanding Drama Series.

The event was held Saturday evening at New York's Marriott Marquis Times Square. Additional awards will be presented in Los Angeles on April 10 and in San Francisco on May 14.

Saturday Night Live regular Tina Fey accepted an award in the Outstanding Individual Episode category for 30 Rock's "Klaus & Greta" episode.

GLAAD said details of Saturday's award ceremony would be available Sunday afternoon at www.glaad.org/mediaawards.
