Casting for trained and self-taught special effects makeup artists is to begin this month, the cable TV network said.

The artists will compete for $100,000 in seed money to help encourage their SFX makeup career, along with a year's supply of products from the makeup company Alcone.

"With strikingly intense personalities and creatively stunning challenges, 'Face Off' has ignited viewers' imaginations, making it Syfy's best unscripted franchise launch ever," Mark Stern, Syfy's president of original content and co-head of original content for Universal Cable Productions, said in a statement. "We look forward to another exciting season showcasing some of the best special effects makeup talent in the country."
