LOS ANGELES, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- Canadian-born 1980s film star Corey Haim was left out of the "In Memoriam" tribute at Sunday's Oscars ceremony in Los Angeles.
Haim -- whose body of work included "Murphy's Romance," "Lucas," "Lost Boys" and "License to Drive" -- died of complications of pneumonia last March at age 38. His acting career had been overshadowed for many years by his battle with drug addiction.
The Hollywood Reporter noted Haim also was omitted from the recent Screen Actors Guild Awards "In Memoriam" segment.
"Whatever the length of the sequence, there will always be fans and family members of those not included who will be disappointed by their omission," the academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said in a statement issued to TMZ. "The Academy extends its understanding and its apologies to those who missed seeing a favorite face in this year's feature."
A message posted on Haim's official Web site Sunday said the actor's mother, Judy, is selling some of his personal items on eBay.
"While the mourning continues, Judy feels it is time for her to release some of Corey's personal belongings," the Web posting said. "She no longer has the space for it all and would now like to offer them to his fans. Over the next few weeks, I will be listing these items for Judy on eBay. The proceeds of Corey's snowboard and accessories from 'The Two Coreys' will be for the benefit and support of Judy. The proceeds of all other items -- T-shirts, shirts, shoes, etc. -- will go 100 percent to the Homeless Animals Rescue Team of Long Island, an animal rescue organization that saves, vets and provides long-term shelter to homeless dogs, cats and other companion animals in need."
The actor was living with his mother, who has breast cancer, at the time of his death.
