LOS ANGELES, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Clint Eastwood is in talks to direct a remake of the classic film "A Star is Born," with pop star Beyonce in the lead role, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The movie would be the fourth incarnation of "Star."

Set in the music world, it will tell the story of a young singer who falls in love with an older rock star.

The previous versions have paired Janet Gaynor and Fredric March, Judy Garland and James Mason, and Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.

No male lead has been cast yet in the latest remake.

If Eastwood does sign on to the project, he and his producing partner Rob Lorenzo would likely produce it along with Bill Gerber, Jon Peters and Basil Iwanyk for Warner Bros., the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.
