7 films qualify for VFX Oscar nods

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Hollywood's Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences says seven films qualify for nomination in the Visual Effects category for the 83rd Academy Awards.

The eligible movies are: "Alice in Wonderland," "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows -- Part 1," "Hereafter," "Inception," "Iron Man 2," "Scott Pilgrim vs the World" and "Tron: Legacy."

The list will be whittled down to five and announced with the rest of the Academy Awards nominations Jan. 25.

Oscars for outstanding film achievements of 2010 will be presented Feb. 27 at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center and televised live by the ABC Television Network.
