NEW YORK, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Writer, actor and comedian John Leguizamo is to return to Broadway next year with his new solo play "Ghetto Klown," the show's producers said Wednesday.

The stage comedy is to play a 12-week engagement, beginning previews Feb. 21 and opening March 22 at Manhattan's Lyceum Theatre.

Conceived and performed by Emmy and Obie Award winner Leguizamo, the one-man show is being directed by Academy Award winner Fisher Stevens.

Presented by WestBeth Entertainment, Daveed D. Frazier and Nelle Nugent, "Ghetto Klown" is the next chapter in Leguizamo's hugely popular personal and professional story. It follows his previous works "Mambo Mouth," "Spic-O-Rama," "Freak" and "Sexaholix… a Love Story."

"'Ghetto Klown' is all the things I say to my therapist and my manager, but would never want the general public to know. It's cheaper than a lawsuit and I get to take a bow at the end. It's like WikiLeaks but with no international manhunt. Yet," Leguizamo said in a statement.

The play was showcased in earlier incarnations in Philadelphia, New Haven, Conn., Santa Fe, N.M., Louisville, Ky., La Jolla and Berkeley, Calif., Toronto and Montreal, the play's Broadway producers said.
