Martin Sheen lands 'Spider-Man' role

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- U.S. actor Martin Sheen has been hired to play the role of Peter Parker's Uncle Ben in the upcoming "Spider-Man" movie, EW.com reported Friday.

Andrew Garfield is to play the titular superhero and his more ordinary alter ego, while Emma Stone will play his love interest Gwen Stacy in Marc Webb's re-start of the franchise.

The movie is set for release in 2012.
