Tony Curtis memorial set for Monday

LAS VEGAS, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- A memorial service for film star Tony Curtis, who died at the age of 85, is set for Monday in his adopted home of Nevada, a funeral home spokeswoman said.

Curtis died Wednesday of cardiac arrest at his house in Henderson, Nev. The New York-born actor is best known for his work in "The Defiant Ones," "Spartacus," "Some Like it Hot" and "Operation Petticoat."

Cecelia Jackson from the Palm Mortuary and Cemetery, Green Valley in Las Vegas told CNN his memorial is to take place Monday morning.

In lieu of flowers, the actor's manager, Mike Einfeld, told People.com the Curtis family has requested that charitable donations be made to Shiloh Horse Rescue, which helps "abused, unwanted, neglected and slaughter-bound horses of all types."
