NEW YORK, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- "Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical" will feature a 28-foot-long bus with 30,000 LED lights on its sides, the Broadway show's producers said.
The bus, the "Priscilla" of the title, is the means by which three drag queens set out on a journey through the Australian outback.
"Clocking in at just over 28 feet long and weighing five tons, Priscilla sits on a rotating mechanism that tracks up and down stage and moves laterally, giving her the ability to turn corners onstage," the show's producers said in a news release. "Priscilla contains a retractable side panel and three internal lifts; her wheels move, she bounces over roadkill, and she changes her costume (and color) thanks to 30,000 LED lights on all sides that display images all over her."
"Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical" is to open on Broadway March 20 at Manhattan's Palace Theatre. Previews are to begin Feb. 28.
