LOS ANGELES, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Law enforcement officials are looking into whether Lindsay Lohan failed a drug test since leaving a drug rehab program, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.

Citing three sources it did not identify, the newspaper said investigators had not determined whether Lohan has used drugs since being released from rehab last month. The newspaper reported one of its sources said the judge and prosecutor in Lohan's case were given "unofficial" notification the investigation was being conducted.

The 24-year-old star of "Freaky Friday" and "Mean Girls" went into rehab after serving nearly two weeks this summer in a solitary jail cell for violating probation in a 2007 driving-under-the-influence case. Her 90-day sentence was cut short because of good behavior and jail overcrowding.

Lohan could be sent back to jail if it is determined she failed a drug test.

When she was released from rehab, Lohan was ordered to take a random drug and alcohol test twice each week. Her attorney said she would undergo rigorous outpatient treatment for drug and alcohol addiction.

Under terms of her release, she is to live in her Los Angeles-area home, attend psychotherapy sessions five times per week, speak with a "chemical dependency mentor" at least seven times a week, attend meetings for a 12-step dependency program five times a week and take part in behavioral therapy twice a week.
