'Transformers 3' extra hurt in stunt scene

HAMMOND, Ind., Sept. 2 (UPI) -- A movie extra working on "Transformers 3" in Hammond, Ind., was seriously injured by a flying metal object during a stunt, Indiana State Police said.

Police said Gabriela Cedillo, 24, of Chicago, was driving on a closed set when the object crashed through the windshield of her car and struck her, WGN-TV, Chicago, reported Thursday.

Cedillo, who was driving her own vehicle in the scene, was an extra and not a stunt crew member, police said. The vehicle kept moving and striking a concrete barrier wall for nearly a mile before stopping.

Cedillo sustained a serious head injury, police said, and was taken to a hospital.
