Dates set for 'Spider-Man' stage musical

NEW YORK, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Julie Taymor's musical "Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark" is scheduled to begin performances on Broadway in November, its producers announced Tuesday.

Previews are scheduled to start Nov. 14 at Manhattan's Foxwoods Theatre, with an official opening night set for Dec. 21.

Taymor's previous credits include the theatrical phenomenon "The Lion King," and the films "Across the Universe" and "Titus."

"Spider-Man" will feature music by U2's Bono and the Edge.

The show's start date has been delayed several times due to financial issues.

It originally was to star Evan Rachel Wood as Mary Jane Watson and Alan Cumming as Norman Osborn/Green Goblin. The delays have prompted the stars to move onto other projects and they have since been replaced by Jennifer Damiano and Patrick Page respectively. Reeve Carney is to play Peter Parker.
