Stars line up for 'X-Men' prequel

LOS ANGELES, July 8 (UPI) -- Caleb Landry Jones and Nicholas Hoult have joined the cast of the Hollywood origins movie "X-Men: First Class," Variety said Thursday.

Jones is to play Banshee and Hoult is to portray Beast in the Twentieth Century Fox comic-book adaptation to be directed by Matthew Vaughn starting next month, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.

James McAvoy is to play Charles Xavier and Michael Fassbender will play Erik Lensherr, while Alice Eve is to star as Emma Frost, the report said.

The latest installment in the "X-Men" superhero franchise is to open in U.S. theaters June 3, 2011.
