BURBANK, Calif., June 16 (UPI) -- British actor Robert Pattinson introduced his parents to the host and audience at a taping of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" in Burbank, Calif., this week.

Pattinson is best known for his work in the "Twilight" film franchise.

After being welcomed on Tuesday night's show, Pattinson introduced Leno to his parents, who were seated in the audience.

Leno then asked if the media magnet's mother and father believe everything they read in the tabloids.

"It depends on the source," Pattinson said.

"I mean some sources are more reliable than others. I think that the magazines my mom read before I started being in them -- the ones she used to buy -- she trusts those, but any new ones ...," he said, trailing off and shaking his head "no."

The actor went on to describe how his father has influenced his movie career.

"His favorite film is 'Jaws,' and that's pretty much the only film he's ever seen," Pattinson said. "In fact, when I first started doing 'Twilight,' he read the script. I sometimes send him scripts to read to see what his opinion is, and with 'Twilight' he said, 'Well, I think it's kind of a mixture between 'Jaws' and 'Superman.'"
