Corey Haim died of natural causes

LOS ANGELES, May 4 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles County Department of Coroner said Tuesday former child star Corey Haim died from natural causes with drugs playing no direct role in his death.

Haim appeared in a string of hit movies including "Lucas" and "The Lost Boys," but his career was eclipsed by an addiction to drugs that lasted most of his life. When he died March 10 at the age of 38, police categorized it as a suspected drug overdose.

People.com said the coroner has since determined drugs were not a contributing factor. Damage to the air sacs in Haim's lungs, pneumonia and a hardening of his heart muscle with plaque buildup within the blood vessels contributed to the actor's death, the Web site said.
