LONDON, April 13 (UPI) -- Ian McKellen, Joely Richardson, Liam Neeson, Trevor Nunn and Simon Callow were among the mourners at actor Corin Redgrave's funeral in London.
Also on-hand at the Covent Garden service Monday were Redgrave's actress sisters Vanessa and Lynn, the BBC reported.
The British actor and political activist died last Tuesday following a long battle with prostate cancer. He was 70.
On stage, Redgrave had appeared in "A Midsummer Night's Dream," "The Tempest," "Not About Nightingales" and "Trumbo." Among his film credits are "Four Weddings and a Funeral," "Excalibur" and "A Man for All Seasons."
The BBC said Nunn told mourners at Monday's funeral that his university friend should be remembered for "so many things" including his "political work, idealism and great moralism." The playwright also said, over the years, he watched Redgrave become a "great" and not just a "good" actor.
Redgrave's sisters, daughter Jemma, and sons Harvey and Arden read aloud passages from literature to mark the occasion, the British broadcaster said.
