LOS ANGELES, April 9 (UPI) -- About 30 friends gathered to remember late actor Corey Haim at a restaurant in Marina del Rey, Calif., Thursday, actress Kristy Swanson said.

Haim starred in a string of hit 1980s movies such as "Lucas" and "The Lost Boys," but his career was eclipsed by an addiction to drugs that lasted most of his life. He died March 10 at age 38 of a suspected drug overdose. The cause of his death is still under investigation.

Among those who turned out for Thursday's three-hour event to share their memories of Haim with his mother Judy were Corey Feldman, Todd Bridges, Nicole Eggert, Robyn Lively and Julie McCullough, People.com said Friday.

"Had Corey wished to be anywhere, he would have loved to be with us last night, to be with all his old friends," Swanson told the Web site.

"We're glad his mom got to be a part of it too," she added. "It was like a reunion. ... Robyn brought tons of old pictures -- lots of people with crazy hair and funny clothes, and people gave Judy gifts. I had a picture of me with Corey on the set of 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer,' and I gave that to her. There were no speeches, just lots of picture taking, talking and sharing pictures of our kids."

Feldman said Thursday that Haim's grieving mother had asked the public memorial he was planning be scrapped in favor of a more intimate gathering.
