BURBANK, Calif., March 24 (UPI) -- Warner Bros. Pictures says it plans to release a science-fiction thriller called "Splice" and starring Adrien Brody in U.S. theaters this June.

Directed by Vincenzo Natali and set for a June 4 debut, the movie co-stars Sarah Polley.

The movie was recently acquired by Joel Silver's Dark Castle Entertainment after it premiered to critical and audience acclaim at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.

"Vincenzo has made a thought-provoking thriller that combines horror, science fiction and moments of dark humor in a fascinating exploration of one of today's most controversial topics. 'Splice' is like nothing you've ever seen before," Silver said in a statement Monday.

The flick is about two ambitious young biologists who risk their careers -- and their lives -- by pushing the boundaries of science to serve their own curiosity, said Warner Bros.
