Weaving may play 'Capt. America' villain

LOS ANGELES, March 12 (UPI) -- British actor Hugo Weaving is in talks to play the villain Red Skull in Marvel Studios' superhero flick "Captain America," The Hollywood Reporter said.

Weaving's film credits include "The Matrix" and "Lord of the Rings" trilogies, as well as "V for Vendetta."

If all goes well in the negotiating process, "America" would reunite Weaving with Joe Johnston, his director on "The Wolfman," the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.

The role of Captain America's alter-ego Steve Rogers reportedly has not been cast yet.
