London film critics to honor Tarantino

LONDON, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- The London Film Critics' Circle says it plans to present Hollywood filmmaker Quentin Tarantino with its highest honor at a ceremony in February.

Tarantino's movies include "Reservoir Dogs," "Pulp Fiction," "Kill Bill" and this year's "Inglourious Basterds."

The BBC said the London Film Critics' Circle plans to honor him with its Dilys Powell award for excellence in cinema at its annual prize presentation in London on Feb. 18.

"This is such an honor. I have always relished discussing my work with film critics," Tarantino said.

Leading the field with seven awards nominations, including best British film, is "An Education."

"The Prophet" earned five nominations, including one for film of the year.

The other contenders for film of the year are "The White Ribbon," "The Hurt Locker," "Avatar" and "Up in the Air," the BBC noted.
