NEW YORK, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Actor Michael Imperioli of "Goodfellas" and "The Sopranos" said he will not relocate to Los Angeles because of his dedication to New York.

Born in Westchester County, N.Y., Imperioli said he is dedicated to living in New York with his wife, Victoria, and their two sons rather than relocate to Hollywood as part of his TV and film career, the New York Daily News reported Saturday.

The 48-year-old actor said his dedication is based on his connection with several childhood friends in New York, as well as longstanding tradition of training with New York actors rather than Los Angeles thespians.

In addition, the actor who portrayed Christopher on "The Sopranos" plays in a post-punk band and is a longtime fan of New York's now-defunct CBGB music club.

Imperioli told the Daily News that New York is also special because it is the birthplace of singer Lou Reed.

"I'd like to open for Lou Reed -- that would be ideal. He's my hero," the actor said.
