Dec. 16 (UPI) -- President Obama's selfie and an incident involving a fake sign-language interpreter at Nelson Mandela's funeral were satirized over the weekend in Saturday Night Live's weekly program.

Kenan Thompson played the role of the interpreter making comical gestures as the faux President Obama spoke about healthcare.

“First, I got roped into taking a selfie with the blonde female Danish prime minister,” the actor playing Obama said. “Some people said Michelle was angry at me for that. But, I talked to her afterwards and I can assure you, she was furious.”

Later in the skit, an actress posing as Angela Merkel appears to tell Obama, “I feel like you kind of owe me after the whole wire-tapping mein cell phone thing.” The two then proceed to take a selfie together.

Obama drew criticism for taking a selfie photo at Mandela's funeral with British and Danish prime ministers. First Lady Michelle Obama's facial expression appears unamused in an AFP photo taken of the three leaders posing for the selfie. The sign-language interpreter at Mandela's funeral was later revealed as a fraud. The man claims he suffers from some form of schizophrenia.
