Robin Thicke opens up about upcoming album 'Blurred Lines'

Robin Thicke told Radio.com that his upcoming album "Blurred Lines" will have a much more "feel good" tone than his previous work.

“I realized, this time, I’m not going to do it all on my own. I’m going to hire some of the great hit-makers in the business and try to make some music everybody can enjoy instead of just my small fan base,” the singer said referring to his previous self-made records which didn't do as well as he would've liked them to.

And the 36-year-old singer seems to have found the perfect way to remedy his lack of succes as the first single of his upcoming record, which is also titled, "Blurred Lines," is already an international success and is currently topping charts in both the United States and the U.K.

In part, the single and its video have garnered so much attention beacuse critics have slammed the song for being "rapey."

However, Thicke was not thrown by the poor reviews as it was his intention in the first place to "break every rule of things you're not supposed to do and make people realize how silly some rules are."

Asked about what his fans could expect from the new album, Thicke spoke of one song in particular.

"['Give It 2 U'] It’s very Michael Jackson, Prince but also pretty hip-hop," he said.

Thicke's "Blurred Lines" will hit virtual and physical stands on July 30.
