Miss Utah Marissa Powell gave the most cringe-worthy answer in the interview portion of Sunday's Miss USA pageant since Caitlin Upton's 2007 embarrassment.

NeNe Leakes delivered up a question about the wage gap, helpfully reminding Powell that one in three families now have women as the primary earners.

Powell responded with an answer that was, well, unintelligible.

"I think we can relate this back to education, and how we are continuing to try to strive to..." She paused, buying time. "... figure out how to create jobs right now.

"That is the biggest problem. And I think, especially the men are, um, seen as the leaders of this and so we need to try to figure out how to create educate better so we can solve this problem. Thank you."

Powell ended up as third runner-up in the competition, but got by far the most attention. Her comments began trending in every conceivable place online, include Twitter, Tumblr, and a slew of brutal articles.
